ECW Media Society is a not-for-profit organization located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
Our Values
We are passionate about supporting and encouraging
an emerging form of Christianity
that is rooted in ancient wisdom
and attentive to the movement of spirit in our day.
This way is grounded in tradition
and requires us to be dedicated to spiritual practice,
and to living out our values in the world.
We are open and inclusive,
and honour the perennial wisdom
found in scripture and in all of the world’s enduring religions.
We affirm the equality of the sexes
and the godliness of people of all ages, races, and nationalities.
We understand that humans do not stand apart from creation,
but exist within a web of being that is sacred in all its aspects.
We emphasize a spirituality of transformation
rather than adherence to doctrine or belief.
Our Mission
is to advance this emerging form of Christianity
- by providing spiritual and educational resources that encourage and equip people to live these values in the world
- by engaging people in the discussion and creation of ideas and knowledge relevant to emerging Christian thought and practice
- by fostering dialogue and cooperation among people of the emerging Christian community and with the world’s enduring religious traditions.
We Do This
- by making available, at low or no cost, resources that can be shared via a Creative Commons License
- by providing forums and a portal (primarily internet-based) for people to contribute to a growing pool of knowledge, articles, and practical resources
- by linking people to other, similar organizations to encourage collaboration and the sharing of ideas
- by supporting, promoting, and sharing research on emerging forms of faith community.
FaithCollaboratory
Our faithcollaboratory.com website is a key initiative of ECW Media Society and a joint venture between EmergentVillage.org and ECW Media Society.
We created this wikipedia-style website to enable people to create, discuss, and share ideas, practices, and resources related to emerging Christianity. Our hope is that it will become an online encyclopedia of all things related to the emerging and emergent movements and processes.
The site is designed to serve in two ways:
- first, as a forum for ideas, where people can create their own content. This content can be edited and further refined by those who register as users of the website
- second, as a repository for pieces that have already been published. The articles in this second category cannot be edited by the emergent community, but people may discuss and comment on them, as well as share them under the Creative Commons by-nc-nd (attribution, non-commercial, no derivatives) License.
Wood Lake Publishing Inc.
ECW Media Society is the sole owner of Wood Lake Publishing Inc. The mission of Wood Lake is to retrieve, reclaim, and renew the Christian tradition of living radical and inclusive love. It does this by publishing the faith formation curricula Seasons of the Spirit and The Best of Whole People of God Online, and books that explore and promote positive social and spiritual values.
